Sense of Sound
For the next two weeks, the doors of DordtYart will be closed. The exhibition Cross Works will make place for the new exhibition Sense of Sound. A unique exhibition showing half a century of sound art. Over 40.000m3 fills up with sound waves: installations, music performances and workshops. And that is exciting, because as a visitor you will go through a new experience. Just like looking at art, listening to art requires practice and devolution. During this exhibition the (and thus your) 'Sense' will be listened and invent again.
In Sense of Sound, the history of sound art is seen and heard in the installations of Dick Raaijmakers, Paul Panhuysen and Ad van Buuren, the founders of (electronic) sound art in the Netherlands. Young, recently graduated artists Tamar Harpaz, Matthijs Munnik, Matthias König and the duo Elise 't Hart & Nils Davidse show a number of new works and give workshops and performances. Also renowned artists Hans van Koolwijk, Nico Parlevliet, Maria Barnas and Robert Lambermont contribute to the exhibition. They show installations and give sound performance.

August 19: opening Sense of Sound with Ensemble Interface and Hans van Koolwijk
During the opening, Ensemble Interface gives a special performance. Ensemble Interface is an international collective of musicians, founded in 2009 (Frankfurt). They focus on contemporary music through special performances, educational activities and research. Togther with three composres, Interface asked Hans van Koolwijk to make new intruments for the performance Klangmøbil, so the musicians get out of their comfortzone. So are the Bellen-installatie, the Beam-cello, the Glissando-drum and other instruments build. The ensemble works on a worldpremiere in the hall. It's going to be exited, an experiment, a work in progress.
Perhaps you know Hans van Koolwijk's work still from DordtYart 2013: de Klankkaatser or the porcelain bells in the front of DordtYart. The instruments will stay in the hall during Sense of Sound, including the Belleninstallatie (bells-installation).
