Science of Sound: 1 september t/m 7 oktober
Vanaf 1 september is DordtYart gevuld met geluid- en klankinstallaties voor de tentoonstelling Science of Sound. Wij nodigen 16 kunstenaars uit om een klinkend werk te plaatsen in de hal.
In 2017 maakten we de tentoonstelling Sense of Sound bij DordtYart. De geschiedenis van de hal, de akoestiek, de ruimte en het licht bleken geweldige componenten te zijn voor een tentoonstelling gericht op geluidkunst. Domeniek Ruyters schreef voor MetropolisM: “Het tekent hoezeer deze geluidstentoonstelling hier op zijn plek is. Het gebouw biedt de geluidkunst een contact die haar in een verrassend breder perspectief plaatst. Elders is dit nummer wordt geschreven over de zoektocht naar de ideale plaats voor geluidkunst. Ik geloof dat DordtYart in Dordrecht die al gevonden heeft."
In deze bijzondere vindplaats worden oren en ogen nu gericht op de nieuwe tentoonstelling vol geluidgolven: Science of Sound. Iedere kunstenaar in deze tentoonstelling houdt zich op een andere manier bezig met geluid. Horst Rickels en Robert Pravda veranderen de oude machinehal in een groot instrument met hun constant roterende Leslie speakers, Roel Heremans neemt u met het medium radio mee in een bijzondere choreografische denkervaringen, Cathy van Eck laat zachte wind klinken waar u met uw adem de weersomstandigheden kan veranderen.
Zet het vast in uw agenda: 1 september om 15.00 uur opent de tentoonstelling!

Zonnige en feestelijke afsluiting werkperiode
Afgelopen weekend was de finissage van het eerste deel van het seizoen. Een zonnig, warm en feestelijk weekend met presentaties, performances, de aanwezigheid van de kunstenaars en natuurlijk de nieuwsgierige aanwezigheid van bezoekers.
Op vrijdagavond gaven kunstenaars Bram Vreven, Kim Habers en Yvon Ariese een presentatie over hun werkperiode. Aansluitend toonde Femke Schaap en Sjerk Timmer voor een laatste keer hun nieuwe lichtwerk op het (donkere) buitenterrein van DordtYart. Zondag gaven kunstenaars Jan Kees van Kampen en Marloes van Son een afsluitende performance en werd het nieuwe pad van Yvon Ariese voor het eerst bewandeld. Een bijzondere afsluiting van een bijzondere periode vol nieuwe ontmoetingen, nieuwe onderzoeken en nieuwe werken!

Science of Sound, September 1 - October 7
From 1 September, DordtYart is filled with sound and sound installations for the Science of Sound exhibition. We invited 16 artists to place a work in the hall.
In 2017 we made the exhibition Sense of Sound at DordtYart. The history of the hall, the acoustics, the space and the light turned out to be great components for an exhibition focused on sound art. Domeniek Ruyters wrote for MetropolisM: "It shows how much this sound exhibition is in place here. The building offers sound art a contact that places it in a surprisingly broader perspective. Elsewhere in this issue is written about the search for the ideal place for sound art. I believe that DordtYart in Dordrecht has already found it."
In this found location, ears and eyes are now focused on the new exhibition full of sound waves: Science of Sound. Every artist in this exhibition deals with sound in a different way. Horst Rickels and Robert Pravda change the old machine hall into a large instrument with their constantly rotating Leslie speakers, Roel Heremans takes you with the medium of radio in a special choreographic experience, Cathy van Eck lets soft wind sound where you can use your breath to change the weather conditions.

Sunny and festive closing of the work period
Last weekend was the finissage of the first part of the season. A sunny, warm and festive weekend with presentations, performances, the presence of the artists and of course the curious presence of visitors.
On Friday evening, artists Bram Vreven, Kim Habers and Yvon Ariese gave a presentation about their work period. When the sun went down, Femke Schaap and Sjerk Timmer showed their new light work for the last time in the (dark) outdoor area of DordtYart. On Sunday, artists Jan Kees van Kampen and Marloes van Son gave a final performance and the new path of Yvon Ariese was walked for the first time. A special end of a special period full of new encounters, new researches and new works! |
