Cello Concert

Tijdens het festival Dordt in Cello vindt er een bijzonder cello concert plaats in DordtYart. Op donderdagavond 30 mei vult het Amsterdamse Cello Octet de hal met klanken van het stuk '8' van componist Michael Gorden.
Voor New Yorker Michael Gordon heeft minimal music geen geheimen meer. In ruim 30 jaar keerde hij het minimal-genre binnenstebuiten en vond een eigen componeertaal. In ‘8’ cirkelen cello klanken eerst in een bepaalde richting, dan tegenovergesteld en eindigt het in een koraal, waar het geluid van de cello’s in een machtig orgel transformeert. Presentatie Marjoleine de Vos
Marjoleine de Vos is dichter en journalist. Als redacteur bij het NRC schrijft ze over kunst en literatuur en maakt wekelijks een column over wat haar bezighoud op de opinie pagina. In 2000 verscheen haar eerste dichtbundel en sindsdien brengt ze met regelmaat poëziebundels uit. Deze avond staat in het thema van verschijnen / verdwijnen. De Vos zal vertellen over haar eigen werk, maar gaat ook in gesprek met kunstenaar Puck Verkade.

Presentatie Maarten Doorman
Maarten Doorman is schrijver, filosoof en bijzonder hoogleraar Journalistieke Kritiek van Kunst en Cultuur aan de universiteit in Amsterdam. In 2014 gaf Doorman een bijzondere lezing bij DordtYart tijdens GlassFever naar aanleiding van het werk van Koen Vanmechelen. Donderdag 27 juni staat in het teken van verschijnen / verdwijnen. Doorman spreekt hierover over zijn eigen werk en gaat in gesprek met kunstenaar Sarah van Sonsbeeck.

Presentatie Koen Vanmechelen
Koen Vanmechelen toonde tijdens GlassFever zijn installatie AWAKENER / LIFEBANK, een groeiende installatie met zijn Cosmopolitan Chicken Project, groeiende paddestoelen, (glazen)zaden en platen. Op 11 juli is Koen Vanmechelen in DordtYart om te vertellen over zijn grootse project in Genk dat momenteel in wording is: LABIOMISTA, een oude dierentuin omgebouwd tot een laboratirium, een werkplaats, een beeldentuin: een plek tussen kunst en het leven.

Live evenement Barbara Visser
Barbara Visser is beeldend kunstenaar en filmmaker. Op de tweede verdieping van DordtYart toont ze in samenwerking met Bart Haensel & RAAAF / Judith Roux haar lopende onderzoek The Glass Delusion. Een verhaal in beeld, geluid, foto’s, tekst en licht. Vanuit het materiaal glas zoekt ze een caleidoscopisch verhaal over de wereld: over oorsprong en materie, over gedrag, over tijd, over het kijken. Op deze zondagmiddag organiseren ze met elkaar een live evenement rondom het onderzoek en de resultaten.

Cursus hedendaagse kunst: Hovo Rotterdam x DordtYart
donderdag 20 juni, 27 juni en 4 juli, 14:00 - 17:00 uur
DordtYart en Hovo (Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam) presenteren een bijzondere cursus hedendaagse kunst en esthetica. Tijdens deze cursus bezoekt u niet zomaar de tentoonstelling in de hal, maar bent actief deelnemer in het productieproces en gaat samen met uw docent kunsthistoricus Milou Terpstra in gesprek met de kunstenaars. U leert letterlijk tussen de kunst. Bijvoorbeeld over het kijken naar hedendaagse kunst: waar gaan de werken over, hoe kunt u de installaties en sculpturen interpreteren en hoe kunt u zich als toeschouwer tot de werken verhouden? Cello Concert DordtYart

During the festival Dordt in Cello a special cello concert will take place in DordtYart. On Thursday evening, May 30, Amsterdam's Cello Octet fills the hall with sounds from the '8' piece by composer Michael Gorden.
For New Yorker Michael Gordon minimal music has no secrets anymore. In more than 30 years he turned the minimal genre inside out and found his own composing language. In "8", cello sounds first circle in a certain direction, then the opposite and end in a coral, where the sound of the cellos transforms into a powerful organ. Presentation Marjoleine de Vos
Marjoleine de Vos is a poet and journalist. As editor at the NRC, she writes about art and literature and writes a weekly column on the opinion page. Her first collection of poems was published in 2000 and since then she has regularly published poetry. This evening is in the theme of verschijnen / verdwijnen (appear / disappear). De Vos will talk about her own work and have a conversation with artist Puck Verkade. (all presentations are in Dutch)

Maarten Doorman is writer, philosopher and extraordinary professor of Journalistic Criticism of Art and Culture at the University of Amsterdam. In 2014, Doorman gave a special lecture at DordtYart during GlassFever, following the work of Koen Vanmechelen. Thursday 27 June is all about appearing / disappearing. During GlassFever, Koen Vanmechelen showed his installation AWAKENER / LIFEBANK, a growing installation with his Cosmopolitan Chicken Project, growing mushrooms, (glass) seeds and plates. On July 11, Koen Vanmechelen is in DordtYart to talk about his big project in Genk that is currently arising: LABIOMISTA, an old zoo transformed into a laboratory, a workplace, a sculpture garden: a place between art and life. Live evenement Barbara Visser
Barbara Visser is visual artist and filmmaker. On the second floor of DordtYart she shows her ongoing research The Glass Delusion: A workspace to write a script about the meaning of glass. You'll find a wall where cross-references about the subject will be explored in the coming months, a 1:10 model to test spatial possibilities with glass and projection, raw footage in which a glass eye is produced and an audio track in the form of a radio program in which the makers further elaborate on their research. On this Sunday afternoon they organize a live event together about this work in progress. (all presentations are in Dutch)
