DE DIEPTE IN TIJDENS GLASSFEVER

Afgelopen 16 mei heeft Koen Vanmechelen een succesvolle aftrap gemaakt van het lezingenprogramma tijdens GlassFever. Vanmechelen vertelde op deze interessante avond onder andere over The Cosmopolitain Chicken Project, zijn plannen voor zijn Biomista in Genk, en de keuze van glas in zijn installaties.

Ook de volgende lezingen zullen aansluiten op het werk van Koen Vanmechelen. Het beloven bijzondere avonden te worden waarin eerst de expert spreekt en daarna met Koen Vanmechelen in gesprek gaat. Zo vertelt 16 juni Hilde Anna de Vries over onze voedselindustrie, 7 juli Koen Vanderstukken over het verzamelen van hedendaagse kunst in glas en 14 juli Maarten Doorman over sociaal engagement in de kunst.

HILDE ANNA DE VRIES & KOEN VANMECHELEN

Schadelijke stoffen in ons eten, E-nummers, misleidende marketing, voedselschandalen, uitbuiting van arbeiders in productielanden, de industrielobby, genetische manipulatie, vrijhandelsverdragen, klimaatverandering, een groeiende wereldbevolking, grondstoffen schaarste en het verlies van bodemvruchtbaarheid en –diversiteit.. Dit is slechts een greep uit de problematiek waar onze dagelijkse voedselkeuzes mee samenhangen. Kunnen we het tij nog te keren?

Hilde Anna de Vries is voormalig directeur van de onafhankelijke voedselwaakhond Foodwatch, organiseerde filmvertoningen tijdens het Food Film Festival van de Youth Food Movement en werd in 2014 genomineerd voor de duurzame Jonge 100. Inmiddels is ze werkzaam als zelfstandig ondernemer.

Hilde Anna de Vries neemt ons mee in de geschiedenis van ons voedselproductiesysteem tot aan de uitdagingen waar we op dit moment voor staan en slaat een brug naar de wereld van Koen Vanmechelen.

COMBINATIERONDLEIDINGEN DORDRECHTSMUSEUM & DORDTYART

Een rondleiding langs de hoogtepunten van GlassFever? Schrijf je in voor de combinatierondleiding. U krijgt zowel een rondleiding bij DordtYart als bij het Dordrechts Museum. De eerste combinatierondleiding vindt plaats op vrijdag 10 juni. Heeft u dan al plannen? Houd de website van GlassFever dan goed in de gaten, want er volgen meer data!

GLASBLAZEN IN DORDTYART

In samenwerking met Vereniging van Vrienden Modern Glas organiseert DordtYart een aantal weekenden waarin glasblazers zaden, eieren en paddenstoelen kunnen blazen en zo een bijdrage leveren aan de groei van de installatie van Koen Vanmechelen. 

De eerste weekenden hebben plaatsgevonden en de resultaten en reacties zijn geweldig! Wilt u de deelnemers live aan het werk zien, of misschien wilt u zelf wel een keer meedoen? Kijk op onze website voor workshopdagen en ervaar het glas in al zijn schoonheid.

PETER VINK

In het LAB programma van DordtYart gaat Vink vanaf half juni aan de slag met een werk dat speciaal gemaakt wordt voor op de landtong van DordtYart. Het uitzicht vanaf de kop van de uitham is het uitgangspunt van dit kunstwerk. Deze uitham heeft door de geplande  nieuwbouw de straatnaam 'Werf van Hippos' gekregen van de gemeente Dordrecht. Op deze plek plaatst Vink een metalen rooster van ca. 7 meter lang en ca. 2,5 meter hoog. Dit industrieel gemaakte raster wordt gevuld met 1500 zelf gegoten glazen blokjes die worden gemaakt in de glasovens van Dordtyart. Ieder blokje heeft unieke eigenschappen en breken het licht steeds op een andere manier.

Wanneer Peter Vink precies aan het werk is aan de glasovens,
zullen we binnenkort bekend maken in onze agenda op de website.

Middagje DordtYart

Een bijzondere middag oin DordtYart bijwonen? Meld u aan voor het middagje DordtYart. U wordt ontvangen met een kopje koffie of thee en krijgt daarna een rondleiding langs de hoogtepunten in de hal; waarom komt al dat glas vandaan, wie is Adriano Berengo en wat is er allemaal mogelijk met glas? Daarna kunt u uiteraard op eigen gelegenheid rondkijken en de achtergrondfilms van GlassFever bekijken.

LECTURE PROGRAMM

Last May 16 we’ve had a successful kick-off of the reading program of DordtYart with Koen Vanmechelen. Vanmechelen filled this interesting evening with stories of The Cosmopolitain Chicken Project, his plans for his Biomista in Genk, the choice of glass in his installations and much more.

All the following lectures will connect to the work of Koen Vanmechelen. During these lectures, his workwill be viewed from different perspectives, discussed, criticized, and explained by different experts. June16 Hilde Anna de Vries will be our expert from the food industry, July 7 Koen Vanderstukken aboutcollecting contemporary art in glass and 14 July Maarten Doorman about social engagement in art. These are just some of the issues that our daily choices in food are associatedwith. Can we turn the tide?

Hilde Anna de Vries is the former director of the independent food watchdog Food Watch. She organized film screenings during the Food Film Festival of the Youth Food Movement and was nominated for the Sustainable Young 100 2014.

Hilde Anna de Vries takes us into the history of our food production system with the challenges of today and makes a link with the world of Vanmechelen.

A tour including all the highlights of GlassFever? Sign up for the combination days. You’ll have a tour at DordtYart and the Dordrechts Museum and see the best of both. The first combination tour will take place this Friday (the 10th of June). There will be more dates. Check the website of GlassFever for extra dates.

GLASsBLowing IN DORDTYART

In cooperation with the Vereniging van Vrienden Modern Glas (Association of Friends of Modern Glass), DordtYart hosts a number of weekends where glassblowers are able to blow seeds, eggs andmushrooms. This way they contribute to the growth of the installation of Koen Vanmechelen. The first workshops took place and the results are great! Would you like to see the participants working? Or maybe you would like to make something in glass by yourself? Check out website for the dates of theworkshops and experience glass in all it’s beauty!

PETER VINK

During the LAB program of DordtYart, Peter Vink will work on a work especially made for the landslide of DordtYart. Peter Vink makes site-specific artworks. He incorporates the specific characteristics of the space or environment, aiming to emphasize or strengthen what is present in order to influence and highlight our experience of the site. For Dordtyart he designed a metal grid of 7 x 2.5 meter with 1500 segments. Each individual segment will be filled with handmade casted glass. This installation will be placed at the end of of a landslide. Each glass part will break the light in their own individual way whichwill create an unique experience and will give a spectacular new view on the river and city landscape. From the 16th of June, Peter Vink will work at the furnaces regularly. The exact dates will appear as soon as possible at the agenda on our website.

DordtYart Afternoon

Looking for a special afternoon? Register for DordtYart Afternoon. If you’d like a tour in English, please let us know on forehand.You’ll be welcomed with a cup of coffee or tea, and after the beverage you’ll get a tour of the highlights of the exhibition; where does all that glass come from, who is Adriano Berengo, and what are the possibilities with glass? Afterwards there is – of course- the possibility to visit the rest of
the exhibition, and view the background movies of GlassFever.
