Cross Works open

Zaterdag 15 april openende de deuren van DordtYart voor het eerste deel van het nieuwe seizoen: Cross Works. De zon scheen, de energie spatte de hal in en de kunstenaars spraken opgetogen bij hun werken. We zijn blij om de vreugde van de kunst, de glimlach rond de ogen, de verwondering en de blijdschap die wij vorig jaar ook voelde weer in de hal te zien!

Rudi Fuchs opende de tentoonstelling en sprak inspirerende woorden over de warmte die kunst schept in het leven en bracht een ode aan het kijken. Kijken en zien op de eerste plaats. Met die opdracht bezochten de vele gasten de kunstenaars en hun werken.

Vanaf nu kunt u zelf ook komen zien en kijken. De hal is geopend voor publiek en de ontwikkelingen van de kunstwerken zijn bijna dagelijks te zien en te volgen.

Kunstenaars aan het werk

De opening was een mooi startschot voor de kunstenaars om de werkplekken in te richten en in te leiden. Vanaf nu zijn elke donderdag en vrijdag, en vaak ook enkele dagen in het weekend, kunstenaars aan het werk in de hal. Te beginnen met Stan Wannet (met zijn collega kunstenaars Chen Rongxin en Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola), David Jablonowski (met collega kunstenaar Sarah Pichlkostner), Pieke Bergmans (met Wendeline Thole) en Maurice Bogaert (met collega kunstenaar Sofie Doeland). De eerste ideeën en gesprekken ontstaan en de eerste materialen worden behandeld voor in installaties.
Samen met de kunstenaars plannen we speciale dagen in het weekend waarbij ze vertellen over hun werk en de ontwikkelingen daarvan. Ze gaan in gesprek met elkaar en met het publiek. De exacte data maken we binnenkort bekend.

Publiciteit

Lucette ter Borg van het NRC bezocht Cross Works tijdens de opening. Het NRC publiceerde een mooi stuk over DordtYart, want: ‘voor een van de mooiste plekken van Dordrecht moet je de oude, pittoreske binnenstad links laten liggen en naar een (nog even) rafelrand koersen, ten oosten van het centrum’. Videokunst op 2e verdieping: Collectie Pieter en Marieke Sanders

Op de 2e verdieping, in de installatie van Krijn de Koning, zijn een aantal videowerken te zien uit de collectie van Pieter en Marieke Sanders. Deze verzamelaars laten zich al ruim veertig jaar verrassen door het actuele werk van zowel jonge en vaak nog onbekende kunstenaars uit binnen- en buitenland als door werk van gevestigde kunstenaars die hun sporen hebben verdiend. Hun omvangrijke collectie omvat schilderijen, tekeningen, sculpturen, klein plastiek, foto’s, installaties, kunstenaarsboeken en videowerken. De nadruk ligt op innovatief en conceptueel werk. De laatste jaren volgen zij met name de ontwikkelingen op het gebied van nieuwe media, video en post-internetkunst.
De videowerken zijn van kunstenaars Maria Barnas, Christiaan Bastiaans, Hans Op de Beeck, Jean-Gabriel Périot, Tanja Ritterbex en Lydia Woort.

Cross Works opens

Saturday April 15, DordtYart's doors opened for the first part of the new season: Cross Works. The sun shined, the energy sparked in the hall and the artists spoke excitedly about their work. We are pleased to see the joy of the art, the smile around the eyes, the wonder and the pleasure that we felt in the hall last year again!

Rudi Fuchs opened the exhibition and spoke inspiring words about the warmth that art creates in life and brought an ode to the eye. Watch, look and see in the first place. With this mission, the many guests visited the artists and their works.

From now on you can come and see yourself. The hall is open to the public and the development of the works can almost daily be seen.

WORKING ARTISTS

The opening was a nice kick-off for the artists to set up the workplaces. From now on, every Thursday and Friday, and often a few days in the weekends, artists are working in the hall. Beginning with Stan Wannet (with fellow artists Chen Rongxin and Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola), David Jablonowski (with fellow artist Sarah Pichlkostner), Pieke Bergmans (with Wendeline Thole) and Maurice Bogaert (with fellow artist Sofie Doeland). The first ideas and conversations arise and the first materials are prepared for the new installations.
Together with the artists we plan special days at the weekend in which they tell about their work and their developments. There will be conversations between the artists and the public. Soon we will announce the exact dates.

PUCLICITY

Lucette ter Borg of the newspaper NRC visited Cross Works during the opening. The NRC published a very nice piece about DordtYart, cause: ‘for one of the most beautiful spots in Dordrecht, you have to leave the old, charming downtown and get to the edge of the city, get to the east’. Videoart on the second floor: Pieter and Marieke Sanders Collection

On the topfloor, in the installation of Krijn de Koning, you’ll find a few artworks from the Pieter en Marieke Sanders collection this season. For over forty years, Pieter and Marieke Sanders avidly collected the work of relatively young, as well as more renowned artists from the Netherlands and overseas. Their collection includes paintings, works on paper, sculptures, installations, photography, videos, and artists’ books. The emphasis lies on innovative and conceptual work. In recent years, they have been following in particular new developments in the field of new media, video art and post-internet art.
The videoworks are from artists Maria Barnas, Christiaan Bastiaans, Hans Op de Beeck, Jean-Gabriel Périot, Tanja Ritterbex en Lydia Woort.
