Cross Works start

Het is bijna zover; de deuren van de Biesboschhal openen in het paasweekend voor een nieuw seizoen DordtYart. In de nieuwe tentoonstelling Cross Works worden diverse werkplaatsen ingericht waar kunstenaars samen met specialisten en assistenten verschillende technieken onderzoeken en toepassen in nieuwe kunstwerken. De eerste weken zijn aan het werk:

Maurice Bogaert: werkt aan projecten waar verschillende media zoals architectuur, film, tekst en beeldende kunst bij elkaar komen tot een totaalervaring voor een publiek. Voor DordtYart is het idee te werken aan een caleidoscopische totaal installatie waar het publiek in opgezogen wordt. Misschien kent u Maurice nog wel uit DordtYart 2012 (link). Werkt samen met: Sofie Doeland.

Pieke Bergmans: maakt werk over beweging en welke vormen uit beweging voort kunnen komen. Haar proces start vaak met het onderzoek naar de karakteristieken en de al bestaande productieprocessen van het materiaal waarmee ze aan het werk gaat. Door dit grondige onderzoek weet ze precies hoe ze het materiaal kan manipuleren. Werkt samen met: Wendeline Thole.

David Jablonowski: concentreert zich op kernvragen rondom de eigen aard van sculptuur en zijn communicatief potentieel, de kracht van de communicatie. Jablonowski speelt uiteenlopende materialen en de spannende contrasten (bijvoorbeeld hi tech vs natuurlijke elementen). De manier van combineren en presenteren geeft een verrassende uitstraling. Voor DordtYart maakt Jablonowski beelden die het materiaal tot zijn uiterste zullen brengen. Grote schaal en overbrugbare afstanden zullen materiaal op hun artistieke maakbaarheid testen. Werkt samen met: Sarah Pichlkostner.

Stan Wannet: zijn werk richt zich op de intermediaire rol, die de mens speelt – tussen dier en ding – als bezieler van de levenloze wereld met de nadruk op, en de voorliefde voor, al de absurdistische eigenaardigheden die hem/haar maakt tot wat hij is. Het dier, het dierlijke en het dier in onszelf speelt een prominente rol. Door zijn intuïtieve manier van werken ontstaat het werk tijdens het maken, elke handeling is onderdeel van het artistieke proces. In DordtYart zal Wannet met een assistent collega kunstenaar werken aan een nieuwe mechanische installatie met als uitgangspunt: een koninkrijk der dingen. Werkt samen met: Chen Rongxin en Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola.

Later zullen ook Michiel Martens en Jetske Visser (Martens & Visser) en Boris van Berkum met Tiwanee van der Horst in de hal aan het werk gaan.

TOPFLOOR MET COLLECTIE PIETER EN MARIEKE SANDERs

In de installatie van Krijn de Koning worden 6 videokunstwerken uit de Collectie Pieter en Marieke Sanders getoond. De selectie wordt nog gemaakt in samenwerking met de verzamelaars, er is gelukkig keuze genoeg uit verrassende werken.

Paasweekend bij DordtYart

Tijdens de paasdagen zijn de werkplaatsen open, zijn een aantal kunstenaars aanwezig en kunt u een seizoenkaart aanschaffen voor een speciale prijs, €12,50. Ook kunt u genieten van een paasbrunch tussen 12.00 – 14.30 in het Yartcafé.

Een vol seizoen DordtYart

Dit jaar is het seizoen bij DordtYart voller dan ooit. Na de tentoonstelling Cross Works openen we half augustus met Sense of Sound. Dan voert geluidkunst de boventoon met nieuwe en historische geluidinstallaties in de Biesboschhal en een speciaal muziekprogramma in het klankbodempaviljoen van Dré Wapenaar buiten op de landtong. Denkt u nu vaker terug te komen naar de hal, dan is het raadzaam om vriend te worden, of een seizoenkaart aan te schaffen.

Follow up

Folkert de Jong > aanstaande 2 april om 19.15 uur is de documentaire Het Zelfonderzoek van kunstenaar Folkert de Jong te zien op NPO 2 in het programma Close-up. Vorig DordtYart seizoen is Folkert de Jong voor GlassFever afgereisd naar Murano om acht glazen koppen te laten blazen. Deze stonden prominent te glanzen in de hal tijdens de tentoonstelling. In de documentaire Het Zelfonderzoek is te zien hoe Folkert middels zijn zelfonderzoek reflecteert op de kracht en de beperkingen van het (kunstenaars)bestaan, waarin vergankelijkheid uiteindelijk misschien meer een kracht dan een tekortkoming is.

Julien Grossmann > Julien Grossmann kent u misschien nog wel van zijn werk Breakaway Songs (link) in de hal in 2015. Deze installatie was gemaakt naar aanleiding van een traditie uit de Amerikaanse Marine. Momenteel heeft Julien zijn eerste solotentoonstelling in TENT, waarin zijn sculpturale geluidswerken een hoofdrol spelen. Een tentoonstelling om niet te missen!

Cross Works starts

The doors of the Biesboschhal will open this Easter weekend for another season at DordtYart. Various workshops are realised in the new exhibition Cross Works. Artists will work in these studios with specialists and assistants for their studies and researches, and apply new techniques in their work. The first weeks the following artists will work in the hall:

Maurice Bogaert: works on projects where different media such as architecture, film, text and art come together into a total experience for the audience. At DordtYart his idea is work on a kaleidoscopic installation where the audience can lose themself. Maybe you know Bogaert from his work at DordtYart 2012 (link). Works together with: Sofie Doeland.

Pieke Bergmans: makes work about movement and what kind of shapes may arise from it. Her process often starts with a research into the characteristics and the already existing production of the material she will work with. Because of this research she exactly knows how to manipulate the material. Works together with: Wendeline Thole.

David Jablonowski: focuses on key questions about the nature of sculpture and its communicative potential, the power of communication. Jablonowski plays with different materials and exciting contrasts (like hi tech vs. natural elements). The way of combining and presenting brings you a surprising appearance. For DordtYart Jablonowski will make work that will bring the material to its limit. Large scale and unbridgeable distances will test the materials for its artistic manufacturability. Works together with: Sarah Pichlkostner.

Stan Wannet: his work focuses on the intermediary role, played by people - between animal and thing - as a driving force behind the lifeless world with emphasis on, and love for, all the absurd quirks that makes what he / she is. The animal and the animal in us have a prominent role in his work. Because of his intuitive way of working, the work is created during the making itself; every action is part of the artistic process. In DordtYart Wannet will work with an assistant and fellow artist on a new mechanical installation with as a starting point: a kingdom of things. Works together with: Chen Rongxin and Anthony Olubunmi Akinbola.

During this weekend the workshops are open, a number of artists are present and you can purchase a season ticket for a special price of € 12.50. Also, you can enjoy an Easter brunch between 12:00 - 14:30 hours in the Yartcafé.

A full season DordtYarT

This year's season at DordtYart fuller than ever. After the exhibition Cross Works we open in mid-August with the exhibition Sense of Sound. Folkert de Jong > upcoming April 2 at 19.15 pm, the documentary Het Zelfonderzoek (the self-research) of artist Folkert de Jong will be broadcasted at NPO 2 in the program Close-up. Last season, during GlassFever, Folkert de Jong travelled to Murano make his 8 glass heads. This installation was exhibit at DordtYart during the exhibition. In this documentary you see how Folkert reflects on the strength and limitations of (artists)exist through its own research, where transience is eventually more a strength than a weakness.

Julien Grossmann > you may know Julien Grossmann by his work Breakaway Songs (link) in the hall in 2015. This installation was made following a tradition from the US Navy. Currently, Julien has his first solo exhibition in TENT, where his sculptural sound works play a major role. An exhibition not to be missed!
