Aanstaande zondag interviewt curator en conservator Gerrit Willems meester glasblazer Lino Tagliapietra in het Dordrechts Museum. Het belooft een mooie en interessante ochtend te worden.
Lino Tagliapietra is meester glasblazer, beheerst alle Venetiaanse technieken voor het bewerken van glas die in omloop zijn en draagt deze over aan talrijke Amerikaanse, Europese en Aziatische glaskunstenaars. Tagliapietra maakt kunst van een onovertroffen schoonheid die wedijvert met de natuur. Uitbundig van kleur, complex in detaillering en, als geheel, eenvoudig en sereen.

Het interview (voertaal Engels) en inleiding op de tentoonstelling zijn te bezoeken voor 10 euro. De tentoonstelling GlassFever in het Dordrechts Museum is dezelfde zondag gratis te bezoeken in verband met de Nationale Monumentendagen. In het kader van haar 30ste jubileumjaar ondersteunt de Vereniging van Vrienden van Modern Glas deze activiteit.

Dit weekend bij DordtYart: (glas)kunstenaar John Moran

Kunstenaar John Moran gaat dit weekend aan het werk bij de ovens in DordtYart waar hij glazen objecten maakt voor de groeiende installatie van Koen Vanmechelen. De Amerikaanse Moran heeft sinds een paar jaar zijn studio verplaatst naar het historische centrum van Gent. Hier werkt hij aan zijn zeer indrukwekkende, grote sculpturen gemaakt van verschillende materialen zoals glas, latex en metaal. Zijn beelden zitten vol verhalen, vaak religieus en confronterend; ‘As a storyteller, my work is constructed from a series of anecdotes, references, and experiences. While I do draw ties to American pop culture, politics, and social issues, I do not do this arbitrarily. I attempt to illustrate how I see the barrage of consumerism, religion, and politics colliding with depictions of social injustice, secular beliefs, and popular culture’. - Habatat

with glass master Lino Tagliapietra

This Sunday curator Gerrit Willems will interview glass master Lino Tagliapietra at the Dordrechts Museum. It promises to be a beautiful and interesting morning.
Lino Tagliapietra is a glass master, knows all Venetian techniques for working with glass and he conveys his expertise to numerous American, European and Asian glass artists. Tagliapietra makes art of unsurpassed beauty which competes with nature. Exuberant color, complex in detail and, as a whole, simple and serene.

The costs of the interview (in English) and an introduction to the exhibition are 10 euros. The exhibition GlassFever in the Dordrechts Museum is free (because of the Open Monumentendag, Day of National Heritage). As part of its 30th anniversary year, the Vereniging van Vrienden van Modern Glas (the Association of Friends of Modern Glass) supports this activity.

This weekend at DordtYart: (glass)artist John Moran

This weekend artist John Moran works at the furnaces at DordtYart where he’ll make glass objects for the growing installation of Koen Vanmechelen. The American Moran moved his studio to the historic center of Ghent a couple of years ago. Here he works on his very impressive, large works made of different materials such as glass, metal and latex. His sculptures are full of stories: "As a storyteller, my work is constructed from a series of anecdotes, references, and experiences . While I do draw royalties to American pop culture, politics, and social issues, I do not do this arbitrarily. I attempt to Illustrate how I see the barrage of consumerism, religion, and politics colliding with depictions of social injustice, secular beliefs, and popular culture". - Habatat
