the SENSITIVE TOUCH OF PECULIAR PIANIST MARNIX VAN DE POLL
On Saturday afternoon, after the opening concert, you can enjoy the piano play by Marnix van de Poll. Van de Poll is peculiar and his piano play is characterized by his sensitive tone and love for Russian composers because of their musical depth and lyric. Van de Poll plays almost as often on unusual locations as in regular places. For example, the pianist already played in the Japanese gardens of Clingendael, in the dunes during Oerol and on a ferry on the IJ in Amsterdam. The Sound Pavilion can not be missed with the special acoustics and placement on our spit.
On Saturday afternoon let yourself get carried away by the contemplative sounds of the Japanese Takashi Yoshimatsu. Van de Poll also plays other fitting works like Mad Rush by Philip Glass, but also from the unknown Armenian composer Komitas, and pieces from Pianoboek 2 by JakobTV are on the program. "With his virtuose piano play and his casual way of storytelling, Marnix brings the music history to life in a very engaging way." - Rick de Leeuw, musician, writer, poet. Watch and listen to the Pleiades Dances (Takashi Yoshimatsu) by Marnix van de Poll here.

JAZZ GREATNESS FILLS THE SOUND PAVILION WITH ENERGY
In the evening a very different genre music fill the Sound Pavilion. Two big names from the jazz world, Jeroen van Vliet and Mete Erker, perform in the Sound Pavilion. Together they guarantee lyrical music and a lot of energy that fills the Sound Pavilion. Jeroen van Vliet won the prestigious Buma Boy Edgar Award and Mete Erker is called one of the Dutch most original saxophonists.
Pianist Jeroen van Vliet is a master of nuance and subtlety. The list of special partnerships and awards by Jeroen van Vliet is long. The pianist received, besides the Buma Boy Edgar Award, the North Sea Jazz Composition Award. Ha also had a distinctive role in the work Gatecrash of trumpeter Eric Vloeimans, and made name by collaborations with, among others, alt saxophonist Paul van Kemenade. "Van Vliet makes music in which you lose yourself. He belongs to the few great poets of Dutch improvised music. A warm person never tempted to music in unnecessarily complicated forms, but always loving the beautiful sound. This sound is the content, the dimension, the depth. In this, Van Vliet is unfaithfully credible." Jury report Buma Boy Edgar Award.
This evening Van Vliet plays with saxophonist Mete Erker. Erker his expressive play reminds us of a combination of raw energy and lyric, inspired by the great jazztenors from the 1960s. His music may be known from his Artvark saxophone quartet, in which he has played for over 10 years in the Netherlands and abroad. Erker played with international celebrities like Peter Erskine, David Liebman, Dudu Ndiaye Rose and Winston Mankunku, and has been in the top of the Dutch music scene for years (Benjamin Herman, Jesse van Ruller, New Cool Collective, Zuco 103 and Beef).
Together, Jeroen van Vliet and Mete Erker have already released several CDs and work together regularly, as well as duo and in collaboration with other musicians. Again in these co-operation, the originality and energy they bring across to the listener is repeatedly praised. Last summer, you might have heard them at North Sea Jazz Festival as Moon Trio and next weekend you have the chance to wtch them at the Sound Pavilion. Listen to another concert on a special location of Jeroen van Vliet and Mete Erker here.
