Opening April 15
A new season at DordtYart means a lot of new activities in the hall, artists at work, lectures and performances and, to crown it all, rebuilding the Sound Pavilion (klankbodempaviljoen) of artist Dré Wapenaar. Last season there was a strong positive energy because of the combination of surprising works, the glass workshop and studio’s. We would like to see these workshops and studio’s bring the same energy into the next season.

Cross Works, April 15 - end of July
Last year artists Koen Vanmechelen and Conny Groenewegen showed many aspects of cross-over in their installations. Both the different materials / techniques and presentations in the workshops (glass furnace, living chickens and assistants) gave us and the visitors of DordtYart much joy. Letting the public be part of the concepts of the artists, showing the efforts they make, increases the appreciation of contemporary art in a very contagious way. It is the production of art pieces in the old machine hall that brings the visitors a natural power and energy. This concerns both professionals, amateurs and people who otherwise would never see artists at work.
The selection of artists for this new season, emphasizes the work in a workshop or studio during research and experiment. This inspires not only the visitor, but also the other artists who are working in the hall. Artists will work together with junior artists and assistants.
Commissioned artists for Cross Works: Pieke Bergmans, Maurice Bogaert Olivier Herpt David Jablonowski, Michiel Martens & Jetske Visser and Stan Wannet. The workshops by the artists specializes on taxidermy, 3D printing, kinetics with motors / sensors and different material studies (such as carbon).

Sound art and music, August 19 - October 15
The second part of the programme at DordtYart lasts for two months. From mid-August till mid-October, sound art will be the primary focus with sound installations in the Biesboschhal and the Sound Pavilion on the landslide next to the DordtYart building. The hall is open 4 days a week (Thursday till Sunday). We will host guided tours, lectures, workshops, performances and a special programme in the pavilion, to share a very special art experience with the visitors.

The GlassFever brochure is available on our website. Here you will also find two video reports by Jeanne van der Horst, about GlassFever. The first part shows you the artists who worked at the Berengo Studio on Murano, with the well captured positive role of Adriano Berengo. The second part shows the artists who worked at the furnace in DordtYart during the LAB programme. The work by Peter Vink will be shimmering again on the landslide during the new season of 2017.
Art Rotterdam, February 9 / 12
During Art Rotterdam 2017, DordtYart presents the work of Ronald van der Meijs in the section Intersections, nonprofit spaces and artists' initiatives in the old workshops of the Van Nelle Factory. A beautiful place for the work by Ronald, and a opportunity for us to present the new DordtYart programme to a broad audience.
On the square in front of the entrance, where we presented artist Erwin van der Heide with his fog and sound installation in 2015, you will find great pieces by artist David Jablonowski.
